Asia Argento is an Italian actor and director of films who came from the largest family with both. She has pursued these two professions herself. At the age of nine, Asia Argento was first seen in her debut film Sergio Cittis Sogni e bisogni. In 1988 she had the leading role in the debut film of Cristina Comencini, Zoo (1988), as well as being one of the actors in The Church (1989), directed by Michele Soavi. In 1989, she played Nanni Moretti's baby as the Red Wood Pigeon. (Also directed by Moretti). Close Friends (1992), directed and written by Michele Placido was the film which launched Asia's career career. Asia was able to transition from roles of a young girl to more mature and complicated roles. Cannes International Film Festival received the movie well. The Phantom of the Opera was her third film together with the father of her. Trauma and The Stendhal Syndrome were her first two. Asia's dedication and passion for acting was also utilized for the part of Giuseppe Piccioni in Condannato a nozze. Patrice Chereau was the director. Queen Margot and she played an appearance as the physically challenged girl in the movie. Her 1995 collaboration with Michel Piccoli, in Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion won her yet another award, this time the David di Donatello as well as Grolla di Oro. In 1994, Asia turned her hand to directing and turned out two short films: Prospettive in 1996, she made a documentary of her father and, in 1998, a film about legendary director Abel Ferrara, Abel/Asia (1998) that won an award at the Rome Film Festival. Asia's first feature length film debut came in the form of Scarlet Diva (2000) in 1999. She also acted as the lead actress and also wrote the screenplay. Anna Lou, her first baby, was born to her in 2001. She had directed several music videos. In 2002 she starred in The Red Siren by Olivier Megaton with Jean-Marc Barr and the action thrilledirected by Rob Cohen, with Vin Diesel. Asia has also written a few short stories that have been published by many magazines.
